A great shaper from Album Surfboards

I met a great surfboard shaper.
His name is Matt.
He is the Album Surfboards.
I knew Album surfboards long time ago
and I met him first time was at Basham's the factory.
And I saw him and his surfing this morning at uppers.
He surfs great and his board looks so beautiful.
And he is super cool n' nice guy!
He was riding this stick today and I'm interested in this.
You can see more pictures on his web site.
hmm...what a beautiful board....

Kelly Slater wins Billabong Pro 2011 at Teahupoo.

Congratulation Kelly.
And go for KS 11.
Also everyone did good job at Teahupoo
while I was surfing at uppers.
Uppers wasn't radical as Teahupoo
but it was pretty fun today.
I saw a great surfboard shaper.
Today is good day!

Mexican barrel

How to tune-up fin

I want to make a side bite fins have more base.
So I pick my favorite fins to be foiled down.
Find your favorite fin and trace the out line.

Put it on crump and cut by a saw.

Trim by sand paper.

Do same thing on the other fin.

Before cut and after cut.

Trim together to make it symmetric.

Tape and mark line for tucked under edge.

Mark with sharpie.

Taped off.

Foil it as shaping a surfboard's rail.

Like this.

Left and right.

See the thickness by light.

Mark two band line.

Foil it as shaping a surfboard's round off.

First band.

Like this.

Can you see it?

Second band.

Before foil down.

I want to foil like this.

After foil down.

Take a look on the surfboard.

Check it out. hmm.might be still big
Blend it.

Blend it with higher number sand paper.

More blend.

Hmm...almost done

After blend it looks better than before.

It might work good. Let's try it!

It needs to be polished after test riding.

One of a kind fins.
